3 Pilates Myths, lets talk about them...
3 Pilates Myths that might be holding YOU back from the plentiful benefits of Pilates.
Myth 1: Pilates is just like yoga
Fact: Pilates & Yoga are two different practices that are typically done with different goals/focus. Pilates has more of a focus on working and toning muscles.
Myth 2: Pilates is just for women
Fact: Pilates is definitely not exclusive to women. Typically speaking men might usually choose a heavier type of resistance training to gain strength & tone muscle. But core (abs/back/glute) strengthening, improving overall flexibility & muscle lengthening* are three of the many wider benefits of a regular Pilates routine that men should not overlook!
Myth 3: Pilates isn’t a ‘real’ workout
Fact: Oh my goodness, are you crazy!? One of the best things about Pilates is how modifiable it is and oftentimes this means modifying to add challenge, resistance, burn and results. Like any form of exercise, you should pair/compliment Pilates with something else if you have specific goals. It most definitely is real though.
The benefits of Pilates are endless, whether it’s physical, mental or a more holistic picture. If you believed any of these myths - I encourage you to get out and try Pilates because you could be really holding yourself back from a healthier version of YOU.
